Focus your Life on the True You!

“A bucket list of 10 is a bucket list of none! A bucket list of 1 is a bucket list that can be done.” - Greyson Hawe

That's why for 9 months now, I've had only one thing on my bucket list.

Only one, because I wanted to focus on it.  I wanted to make sure it came true.

From the great Twain…

All eggs in one basket Mark Twain in order to live your bucket list life.jpg
Behold, the fool saith, Put not all thine eggs in the one basket – which is but a matter of saying, Scatter your money and your attention; but the wise man saith, Put all your eggs in the one basket and – WATCH THAT BASKET!
— Mark Twain

So I watched my basket very closely.  And now it's coming true.

A 9 night adventure in the desert with no place to buy anything.  65,000+ kindred artistic souls all exploring / surviving / living together in a place where no other animal would be foolish enough to call home.  Just a bunch of crazy Burners.  Sounds like heaven.

I'm heading back to Burning Man.  My third trip.  And it's still impossible to describe.

It's not easy, none of it.

It's too hot in the day, too cold at night and the fine dust gets into EVERYTHING.  It's a trip that takes a long time to plan and prepare for.  Mentally, physically, financially.

So that's why it's the only thing on my bucket list!

A bucket list of 10 items usually ends up with 1 or 2 awesome, life changing events (that never get done or even started) and a bunch of 'nice to do someday' items.

Checking one of them off does little to feed your soul!

But they do serve to distract and pacify you!

Don't settle for easy wins!

Pick one thing.

One awe-inspiring thing to focus on.

And start devoting your life to it.

Not your work life.

Not your social life.

Not your family life.

Your real, true life.

The life you've been waiting to start.

The number one regret of the dying is common across all demographics.  People on their deathbed most regretted that they did not live a life true to themselves and instead ...

"I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me."

From a groundbreaking study by Bronnie Ware...

This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.
— Bronnie Ware

Don't be that person!

The vast majority of people have no big dream to focus on.  They are a boat adrift with no destination. A boat with no direction will never leave the harbor.

Any shot without a target is sure to succeed…

In hitting nothing.

In getting you nowhere.

Hold one dream, one goal only in your heart.

Succeeding in that one thing will be worth much more than completing 2 or 3 random goals!
