Ecstatic Dance - Mountain of Song
If you are in Houston this weekend, I’ll be facilitating a very special Ecstatic Dance on Sunday
Our usual Sunday dance is a good mixture of Ecstatic and Contact Improv. A clear Consent system allows for such safe dancing. You can find out more details about the event HERE. If it sounds interesting, come play with us!
Together, we will scale the Mountain of Song. Adventure awaits
Three words describe the Mountain that stands in front of us
Primal - Expect songs that speak to the inner you. The wild you. The primal you
Tribal - Expect sounds, influences and languages gathered from tribes around the world
Cinematic - Expect songs that delight and entice by themselves, but also flow into an adventurous dance soundtrack
For those in a stage of Transformation, these songs may help move you forward in your journey. I originally gathered the core songs of the playlist from my own Transformative journeys. Many of these songs gave me strength to take large leaps forward in my life. And they helped me dance in life’s rain storms.
All great adventure stories begin with a prologue to set the stage. Then an Act 1 to connect us to the story and present the main challenge. An Act 2 brings a breather where obstacles look intimidating and friends need to regroup. Act 3 begins our final trek - to summit the Mountain of Song. After conquering our final challenge, our Epilogue brings us back home
Our story unfolds thusly …
Prologue
A couple of songs to connect us to ourself as we begin to let go
Act 1
We jump right into the adventure
We call back to our ancestors and invite them into the dance
We work toward our first peak
The weight and power of these songs are meant to shake you up a bit. Just keep dancing the good dance and you’ll feel your own power growing. We get our first glimpse of what waits for us when we try to reach for the Mountain’s peak
Act 2
The beats come down, but the energy stays high. We catch our breath and regroup a bit. Not a time to rest, but a time to reset. These songs are slower and calmer, but just as powerful
Act 3
Now we take the Summit. Song after song will thrill and challenge you. As in any good story, there are twists and turns. There are surprises. There are obstacles to be embraced before we finally crest the hill
Epilogue
A few songs to bring us back home, covered in sweat and accomplishment
I’ll be in my full Puck mode. Feather headdress, leather, fur. If you feel called, I encourage you to come in your full mode. Any outfits/makeup/musical instruments are very welcome
