We've heard it before that happiness is a choice.  Sadly, most people didn't get the message.

Recently, Nurse/Researcher Bronnie Ware, released her groundbreaking look into the final thoughts and regrets of the gravely ill.  In a stunning report detailing the 5 top regrets of the dying, she discovered that most people on their deathbed...

Wish that "I had let myself be happier."


In her words, "This is a surprisingly common one.  Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice.  They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits.  The so-called 'comfort' of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives.  Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to themselves, that they were content, when deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again."

I'm all for choosing to bring more silliness into my life!

So, are you ready to choose happiness?!!

Negativity is everywhere and you're SUPPOSED to play along in the misery …

Avoid all of it!!!  It's a race to the bottom and your happiness is the cost!

Here are my 3 Favorite Ways to Create Instant Happiness:

1. Be Grateful!

If you have the ability to even read this, you are incredibly blessed and lucky.  Goodness, if you have a working fridge you're richer most people in the world.

Being grateful for what you already have is so important to Happiness.  Probably the most important!


In her book Daring Greatly, Brene Brown's many years of research beautifully demonstrates that Being Grateful is the secret to so much, especially Happiness. 

My personal journey with this lesson:

My family and I got rained out while camping.  4AM it started raining (The tent is fine).  5AM still raining, constant mist in the tent.  6AM still raining, rain cover failing,... complete saturation,... steady dripping... everywhere.

Run for your lives!

We abandoned the tent for a community wood pavilion.  We sat there helpless as we watched our tent, outdoor kitchen, chairs, campfire, EVERYTHING get drenched.  The immediate usefulness of everything was destroyed.  Everything was just a big sopping pile of mud that needed to be packed into cars.

Driving home in my dry car, though and sleeping that night in my comfy bed made me extremely grateful for everything I have.  And I smiled each time I remembered the rain out.  I'm so grateful for all that I have in my life!!!

2. Forgive Someone

Forgive a family member for making a 'stupid' mistake.

Forgive that 'crappy' driver that just cut you off.

Forgive yourself for not being perfect.  Nobody is!  Thank God.

And to be clear, you're forgiving them for a great reason.

You're lightening the load YOU carry!

Some weight you must carry forth, but if you can dump a bit by making a simple change in your own mind, then You Win!  You will literally feel the tension in your shoulders relax as you TRULY forgive someone.  Before you read on, take 30 seconds and try it right now.  TRY IT!

(30 seconds later)... It works, right?  So, do you feel a little happier?

Yep, always works for me.  And for a good reason, I've made all the mistakes that I get angry at others for!  If I was only perfect, I could really get pissed at all these people, but luckily I'm just another fool feeling his way through this world trying not to step on too many toes.

 So I still get mad, I get frustrated, then,



3. Believe that You Deserve to be Happy

Too many people are being crushed by life.  Beat down by their job, their boss, spouse, bills, even by their friends.  

They have lost faith in their SPECIALNESS.

In their unique wonderfulness! 

In their ability to deserve happiness!

If that sounds familiar, don't worry, we all get battered and bruised by life.  Even the good times can beat you up pretty well!


Find your peace.  Find a moment for yourself...

Where you can just appreciate the good things you do for people.

Where you can admire the hugeness of your heart!

Find that blissful moment and just try not to smile, I dare you!

He was a pretty smart guy, so I'm going to go ahead and make up my mind to be happy!
