Don't give up on yourself TOO EARLY! You don't know how Close You Are to Living your Bucket Life

greyson hawe

The mind quits waaaaaaay before the body does.

It's designed that way.

The mind quits so the body doesn't get injured.  That's the safe way to live.

But there are times in your life that you need to push past your mental breaking point.

In those cases, listen to your heart, not your head.

Tell yourself, "I may not have the strength, but I have the Heart to keep going."

While on your path to living your bucket list, things could get hard.  But that’s okay.  You have the Heart.  Keep going.  Don't give up on yourself!

Let me tell you a quick, powerful story …

The 4 Children and the 1 Rose

A wise Father wanted to teach his 4 children a lesson on grit,

on not giving up when things look bleak.

He sent them, one at a time, to visit an ancient rose bush high in the mountains.

The first came back with confusion and lack of interest. "Father, the bush is Barren and Ugly. A Twisted Twig and nothing more."  "Your observation is correct, my child.”

Weeks later, the second child made the journey and reported, "The bush is Green and full of Promise."  "Your observation is correct, my child.”

A month later, the third child returned.  "The bush is full of Fresh Buds and beginning to smell Wonderful."  "Your observation is correct, my child.”

The last child returned and reported, "Father, the bush is Gorgeous!  Amazing Colors and Smells!  It’s one of the most Beautiful things I've ever seen."  "Your observation is correct, my child.”

He gathered his children around him.  "My sons and daughters, throughout your life, you will have many great dreams, like many rose bushes.  They will grow through their difficult phases.  And some days they will appear worthless.  Until one day, they find their beauty.  Unless you give up on them.  How beautiful they become, is up to you.”

Don’t give up on yourself!  Keep doing the work!  Work at being Happier!  Work at getting Healthier!

Trust in the Process! Use SYSTEMS to Accomplish Living your Bucket Life

greyson hawe

Trust in the process.

Trust in your system.

I don’t have a diet…

I have system, a process.

I eat the same healthy way 6 days a week.  Instead of struggling to find a healthy lunch everyday, cook a big soup/stew on Sundays, or grill enough meat to last the week.  So when a special occasion comes up, I enjoy the celebration and eat the birthday cake, drink the beer or enjoy the PIZZA party!  I can do this without guilt, because I know the next day I'm back on my system of healthy eating.

I don’t work out…

I have a system, a process.

Everyday I take some selfish time for myself.  Sometimes lifting weights, sometimes yoga, sometimes running around with my kids, but I try to MOVE everyday.  Some days I don't, but I don't worry about it or feel guilty.  I know my system will kick back into place the next day.

And when I stumble,

when I FAIL (which I do all the time) ...

I rely on my system.

And my system says failure is not bad, NOT TRYING IS BAD.  Failure is just learning and getting better.

Here are some POWERFUL thoughts from the amazing author, Tim Ferriss...

"Defining routines and systems is more effective than relying on self-discipline. I think self-discipline is overrated.

Allowing yourself the option to do what you have not decided to do is disempowering and asking for failure. I encourage people to develop routines so that their decision-making is only applied to the most creative aspects of their work, or wherever their unique talent happens to lie.

Great systems work because they make things automatic, and don't tax your very limited supply of willpower.

What do we see when we systematically study the great geniuses of all time? Almost all had personal routines that worked for them."

Once your systems are in place.  Rely on them, Lean On Them.

Let your Systems do the heavy lifting!

What you focus on Expands. If you focus on the good, you will GET MORE of it!
— Oprah

Think of your life as a Jar of Experiences.

When it’s full, it’s full.

In the end, we’ll only have so many experiences.  We can fill our jar with big rocks, all the way down to sand.

The Big Rocks are the great experiences in your life.

Dream Vacations are Big Rocks.

Big Physical Achievements for Yourself are Big Rocks.

Family Life Moments are Big Rocks.

Sand is what most people use to fill up their experience jar.

Sand is watching the latest TV show.

Sand is eating unhealthy food, ... again.

Sand is wasting 2 hours a day on Facebook.

buried in sand_2b.jpg

The Sand is killing us.  It’s choking out the True You!  Brush that Sand off!

There’s another huge benefit to starting with the Big Rocks ...

By taking up space with the good-sized rocks, naturally we'll have less time taken up by sand.

Don’t Worry!  Sand will still get in.  That’s okay.  Just make sure the big rocks get in first!

Start now!  Make this weekend count!

Choose One and commit to doing it this weekend:

Take one step towards Getting Healthier.

Do something to Be Happier.

(Note: Veteran Bucket Lifers need to commit to both)

Put a Big Rock into your mason jar this weekend!
